Hey ladies!
As a stay at home mom (and before that, just a stay at home wife), I believe that it is my calling to make my house a restful, peaceful, and happy sanctuary that my husband wants to come home to. That doesn’t mean it is always spotless when he arrives home, with me standing in the kitchen in heels and pearls, holding a beautiful China platter with the most delicious roasted turkey waiting for the master of the house to carve. But it does mean that on days when the kids have driven me mad and I haven’t been able to accomplish all of the tasks I had in mind, I can at the very least put on a nice, spit-up free shirt, a little mascara, and light a candle or two.
Your husband may not always say anything, but I promise he’ll notice; and if taking a few seconds to light a candle can make such a big difference in the atmosphere of your home, then why not make it happen?
Hint: Stay away from floral, girly scents. Men (or my man, atleast) tend to like more hearty scents (or flavors, as Tim mockingly calls them. He knows I can’t stand that!) like pumpkin, cinnamon, pine, mint, or eucalyptus. And you can never go wrong with lemon, no matter what time of year! Fool them into thinking you’ve been cleaning all. day. long. {winky face}
A wife of noble character, who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
…he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
{Proverbs 31:10-12 & 28-29 NIV}
With love, Malorie
You are such a great couple. Keep the love alive.
I’m getting married in thirty-three days and loved reading this! Totally having that Proverbs verse framed.
