It all started on one of dem zip-a-dee-doo-dah days. Das the kinda day where you can’t open your mouth with a song flyin’ riiiiiiight outta it!
Remember when I told ya I had some news to share? And then I didn’t say another word? For almost a month? Well, here’s what happened on that day:
We passed ROFR {Right of First Refusal} on our 150 point, Wilderness Lodge, DVC contract! Eeeeeeeeeee!!
What does that mean? It was the first big step of our journey to becoming Disney Vacation Club Members. Yup, it was one of dem zip-a-dee-doo-dah days. I screamed. Then danced around the house with the boys. Then I videoed myself screaming and dancing around the house with the boys and sent it to Tim, who couldn’t scream or dance around because he was at North Point Community Church sitting in a conference.
It’s been almost a month since then and it’s been quite the waiting game for us. But this morning we got a very special email! Our contract has closed and we will have our membership number in 10-14 days!
We are so excited. On Monday we knew our closing was right around the corner, so we got antsy and went ahead and put our DVC sticker on the van {which I’m glad of, because today the weather is terrible}.
The boys and I played with bubbles and outdoor toys while Daddy started washing the van…which really needed a good scrub after the winter.
{Look at Cole’s little short legs. Those shorts look like pants.}
You might be a Disney family if you come out of Cracker Barrel and find that someone didn’t write “wash me” on your van, but “Disney family”. True story.
I have no idea what lead them to think that.No idea.
{Sidenote: MeMama, Cole picked out that bubble wand with his Easter egg prize money from the dollar store. Even though the bubbles are now gone, he still carries it around every day.}
{Paint rollers make great push toys.}
Once the suds started piling up by the van, Jack thought it was a great time to start splashing. That is one boy that loves to splash!
{Look how high he can jump, Grandma!}
Jack may love to splash, but Cole on the other hand…well there is a reason we call him Scaredy-Cat Cole.
I don’t know why he was crying. Maybe because his feet were wet? He’s not dramatic at. all. Nor is he anything like this mother.
Warning: Some of the above statements are completely false.
Finally the time came. [trumpet fanfare] Tim did the honors.
It’s official. We are DVC members!
Here’s the facts for our fellow Disney readers: Home resort, Wilderness Lodge. 150 points, use month April. Because we bought resale, we have 150 points banked from 2012. 300 points available this month. Whoop! Hello multiple WDW vacations in the next year! We’re considering annual passes.
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay. My oh my, what a wonderful day!…
With love, Malorie
CONGRATULATIONS!!! You kids will love you forever for joining up, ours certainly do 🙂 They were 3 and 6 when we first went to Disney World and 9 and 12 when we joined DVC in 1999 and only wish we would have done it sooner.
Our oldest got married at the DVC resort in Vero Beach and this past Christmas our son proposed to his fg in front of the castle. And she is taking an internship at Disney starting in August. Be careful, some or all these things and more could be in your future 🙂
Sunday Jill and I head to Disney for 6 nights at the Beach Club villas. You need to take the boys there…it’s the BEST pool in all of Disney world.
I say yes to annual passes…we have had them for years and this past Christmas DVC members were able to buy premium passes (includes the water parks and Disney Quest) for less then the cost of a normal annual pass.
And we are moving to Florida (the Fort Myers area) the end of May, only 2 hours from Disney. We will be able to go to the Halloween party, Christmas party, Spring training, and just for the heck of it 🙂
Hope to see you guys there…welcome home 🙂
Thanks, Bill! We are so excited and hope that we do have many of those life events to look forward to now. We’re already dreaming about the points we will add in the future and sending our boys away to Aulani on their honeymoons. We have never talked to any DVC members personally that haven’t raved about their membership, saying it was one of the best decisions they’ve made. We are so glad to be a part of the DVC family!
Don’t think I didn’t catch that “Look how high Jack jumps, Grandma!” side joke…. I want you to know I almost jumped higher than that when I heard you got the DVC you wanted….and thats pretty high for me! Can’t wait for the first trip I get to bum along with you… hint….. hint….:)
