Today, We’re Making a Mess!

As of today our Crooked Little House has been on the market for fifteen days. Fifteen days may not sound like a long time, but in those fifteen days we have had nine showings and two offers, one of which we are currently negotiating. {Prayers please!} For those fifteen days we have kept this house in pristine showing condition; floors mopped, clothes baskets empty, sink empty and shining, toilets spotless, toys in order. For fifteen days we have lived on the edge, because at any moment we could {and did} get a call from an agent asking to show the house in thirty minutes time.

Fifteen days can really feel like a long time.

Today Jack woke up and, as he was using the potty, announced to me that he didn’t want to go to church, he didn’t want to leave the house, and {with watery eyes and quivery voice} he didn’t want to keep the house clean! “I want to make a biiiiiig mess!” he said, almost angrily, crossing his arms on his defiant little chest.

With a furrowed brow and sympathizing heart I said, “Okay,” nodding my head on each syllable, “Lets make a big mess!”

So that’s what we did.photo-2We also ate oatmeal, waffles, and fruit snacks in bed while watching Dinosaur Train and Curious George. Later, we watched North Point Online; a little church and worship time in our jammies.BLMVl0VCcAA2iRz.jpg-large photo-4

photo-3It’s been a pretty good Sunday, and if anyone calls to see the house in the next few hours, we’re probably going to tell them that today is off limits. My baby wants to stay home and make a mess. Sometimes you’ve just got to let loose. Sometimes you’ve just got to eat a bowl of mini marshmallows while watching a Disney movie. Sometimes you’ve got to be okay with making a mess.

Today is that day.

Happy Sunday, folks. Make a mess of it.

With love, Malorie

  1. I must confess, I did the same thing…. only the mess was on my face. Watched church on-line, while feeling the conviction of being a Debbie Downer. Oh, to be relieved of pre-menopausal misery…… today I too made a mess.
