Just Another Link in the Chain

After a over a month of being off of all facets of social media, I am easing myself back into the virtual world. I’m not going to blah-blah-blah about all that I have learned and realized while taking an internet hiatus {I’m sure you’ve read many of those posts before and know the pros and cons of the age we live in of constant connectivity}, but instead, jump back in to my Disney side.

We have fifty-three, I repeat, FIFTY-THREE days until our next Disney getaway!

Today, we {Jack and I, but mostly just I} spent some time crafting our countdown chain. You know we Elrods can’t go Disney without a countdown chain! This time, we did it a little bit different…we made some of the chains Mickey links!IMG_9966

Here’s how:

IMG_9958First, we went to the craft store and bought paper that reminded us of some of our favorite things at Disney and got us excited about our trip. We came away with paper that reminded us of Animal Kingdom, the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Frozen, and Epcot.

IMG_9956We made most the links normal. For the Mickey links, I turned the paper over and drew out the width of the link and traced a roll of electrical tape for the ears. {tip: as a result of trial and error, I learned that they should err on the side of being too close together than too far apart}

MickeylinkWith the pretty side facing up, fold the bottom up over the ears. In the end, you wind up with a bunch of these cute little guys.

IMG_9962Tape or glue your links together and voila!

IMG_9967Of course when they are all bunched up on our whiteboard, the Mickey’s don’t stand out much, but as we get closer in and the chain becomes shorter, they’ll stand out more.

We are so excited. Fifty-three days is not so far away at all.

With love, Malorie
